Caraga State University participates in the Times Higher Education (THE) Global Sustainable Development Congress (GSDC) 2025 at the Istanbul Congress Center, Turkey, from June 16 to 19, 2025.
Dr. Jeffrey T. Dellosa, VP for Research, Development, Innovation, and Extension, represented CSU as part of the Philippine delegation from the higher education institutions organized by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), along with other top-performing universities in the country.
The GSDC 2025 features over 180 sessions, bringing together university leaders, government officials, and sustainability advocates from various sectors to cultivate partnerships and create innovative solutions to urgent global challenges. Sessions explore themes including AI for environmental conservation, sustainable infrastructure, climate-resilient institutions, equitable education, and global citizenship.
CSU’s presence at the GSDC 2025 reaffirms its commitment to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Among the leading universities in Mindanao, CSU views the SDGs as an essential framework for promoting inclusive growth, sustainable communities, and transformative education. As such, it has integrated the SDGs into its academic programs, research priorities, extension services, innovation and technology transfer, and institutional strategies.
With VP Dellosa’s participation, CSU will establish collaboration with fellow delegates from universities around the globe on sustainability competencies in higher education, technology-driven research and innovation, and university-community partnerships, which are vital to the university’s transformation into a globally recognized research and innovation hub.
THE Impact Rankings 2025
The congress will also publicize the THE Impact Rankings 2025 on June 17, which covers over 2,500 universities that have demonstrated measurable impact on the SDGs through teaching, research, outreach, and stewardship. The ranking is a global benchmark for universities aiming to make meaningful contributions to society beyond traditional academic performance. CSU is hoping to mark its debut in the rankings this year, reflecting its intensified efforts to integrate the SDGs into its institutional strategies and research priorities.
Dr. Dellosa leads the preparations and submissions to the Impact Rankings, working closely with Dr. Michelle Japitana, VP for Executive Operations, Dr. Glenn Garcia of the Office of International and Global Engagement (OIGE), and Dr. Junrie Matias, Director of the RDIE Publication Management Office, as the core leadership team in 2024, along with the deans of the colleges. The team supervises the research initiatives, monitors data, and ensures strategic alignment with the SDGs.
Knowledge, networks, and strategic insights from the congress will contribute to CSU’s efforts to create a future-ready university that fosters development in the country. It will also increase the university’s international visibility and highlight its role in advocating for the SDGs in Philippine higher education.| via OVPRDIE, PICO
