
Strengthening its international linkage, Caraga State University shared its technical expertise at the 3rd International Workshop on Intelligent Computing hosted by the Far East University (FEU) in South Korea from June 4 to 5, 2025.
Vice President for Executive Operations Dr. Michelle V. Japitana and Strategic Foresight and Management Division Chief Engr. Stephanie Mae Salcedo-Albores represented the university and the Caraga Center for Geoinformatics (CCGEo) by serving as resource speakers on spatial information-based mapping for crop by-products, as well as on the classification and mapping of land cover types using machine learning. Dr. Japitana is also a faculty member of the Department of Geodetic Engineering, while Engr. Salcedo-Albores belongs to the Department of Civil Engineering.
CSU and FEU signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for academic and educational cooperation in May 2023. Department of AI and Computer Engineering Chairperson Chulsoo Ye said that with “the international joint research and exchange, both universities have explored ways to continue cooperation, such as jointly hosting online and offline seminars in remote sensing and artificial intelligence.
