Promoting and providing sustainable production ventures to interested ‘retireable’ police officers, the Caraga State University, through its College of Agriculture and Agri-Industries (CAA), extends training to select police officers and Philippine National Police (PNP) personnel on “Enhancement and Practical Application of Soil Health and Pest Management for Sustainable Crop Production.”

The training conducted on February 28 at the Auditorium, HERO Learning Commons, provided the participants with knowledge and hands-on experience in maintaining and improving soil health while implementing effective pest management. It highlights the crucial role of healthy soil in sustainable agriculture and integrated approaches to balance productivity with environmental preservation.

Hands-on training and on-site visit at the black native chicken and organic agriculture farm were also facilitated by the college.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Solomon E. Alemania Jr. said they are “grateful for this extension program because they gained insights and potential activity that we can invest into upon retirement.” They learned about soil media for seedling production and pest and disease management. They also participated in a farm tour around the campus.

The extension program aligns with CSU’s commitment to extend knowledge and services beyond the university community and promote the adoption of sustainable farming methods.
