Caraga State University, through its Center for Renewable Energy, Automation, and Fabrication Technologies (CRAFT), formalized its partnership with Barangay Bobon, Agusan del Norte on May 10, 2025, for the project “Development and Implementation of Smart Street Light System by Integrating Remote Control System (SSL-SIRLICS)”.
This ₱10.9 Million project funded under the General Appropriations Act (GAA) aims to deploy a smart street lighting system using IoT-based technology to enable real-time monitoring, automated energy optimization, and remote control, addressing challenges in manual monitoring, high maintenance, and limited power access, especially in off-grid areas.
The project is led by Engr. Edgardo Ricardo B. Sajonia Jr., with technical support from faculty members of the Department of Electronics Engineering and collaboration with the Department of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering.
CSU President Dr. Rolyn C. Daguil emphasized that the project strengthens the university’s commitment to community-centered innovation and sustainable technology. Barangay Captain Hon. Aida C. Duran expressed gratitude and full support, noting the project’s impact on public safety and infrastructure.
